Lidzon-dry Syp Uses Lidzon-dry Syp is used in the treatment of serious bacterial infections, particularly in pediatric patients and those who cannot take tablets. It is effective against pneumonia (community-acquired and hospital-acquired), complicated and uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections, and infections caused by resistant Gram-positive bacteria including MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus).

How Lidzon-dry Syp works Lidzon-dry Syp contains Linezolid, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic. It works by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, inhibiting the formation of the 70S initiation complex. This prevents bacterial protein synthesis at an early stage, stopping bacterial growth and replication. It is bacteriostatic against most susceptible organisms but may be bactericidal against certain streptococci.

Dosage and Administration

  • Reconstitute the dry syrup with boiled and cooled water as directed on the label.
  • Shake well before each use to ensure uniform suspension.
  • Use the provided measuring cup or syringe for accurate dosing.
  • Administer with or without food; giving with food may reduce stomach upset.
  • Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve earlier.

Important Information Lidzon-dry Syp is a prescription-only medicine reserved for confirmed or suspected resistant Gram-positive infections. Prolonged use (beyond 28 days) requires close monitoring. Avoid tyramine-rich foods (aged cheese, cured meats, fermented products, yeast extracts, soy sauce, draft beer) to prevent hypertensive crisis. Regular blood tests are advised to monitor for anemia, thrombocytopenia, or leukopenia.
