Uses Rifarut-550 Tabs. is used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy (to prevent and treat brain dysfunction caused by liver disease), irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D), traveler’s diarrhoea, infectious diarrhoea, and to reduce the recurrence of overt hepatic encephalopathy in patients with chronic liver disease.

How Rifarut-550 Tabs. works Rifarut-550 Tabs. contains Rifaximin 550 mg. It is a broad-spectrum, non-absorbable antibiotic that acts locally in the gut by binding to bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and stopping bacterial growth. It reduces ammonia-producing bacteria in the intestine, thereby lowering blood ammonia levels and improving brain function in liver disease patients.
